First Day of School

It is hard for me to believe it but Katie has begun 2nd grade this year! Here are some shots from the first day. Everyday she comes home, finishes her homework and plays school with her little sister. She is trying to teach the 2 year old sight words...LOL not always a lot of interest. However, Kennedy does pretend to "read it" and she hands a lot of books to Kate to read to her. Very cute together.

Happy Birthday Two August Girls

My daughters have birthdays in August. More specifically 5 years and 4 days apart.

Kennedy turned 2 August 6 and Katie will be 7 August 10th!

They are growing so fast and everyday is a joy to be around them. Katie is going to go to PA to stay with her Grammy and Popop so she can go to KNobels with my sisters family! She is very excited and a little nervous. Unitl this year she would not even stay over night with grandparents without me! I am a little worried and will miss her but know she will have a fabulous time!

I am posting some new pictures. Thankfully, Kennedy's fall off the picnic bench happened the day after her birthday and party.

It looks much better now.

Reason I have time to Knit

I forgot to include the photos of the main reason behind my lack of knitting.
If I do so say myself she is a pretty cute reason....

You can see she also keeps her sister busy....and sits on her too!

4th of July, I wish I had a better shot this is an adorable dress made by my sisters mother in law who is a fabulous seamstress, and I am blessed to recieve such wonderful hand me downs!

Preemie cap

This is my first knitting project in way too long. My life has become very busy. An almost two year old makes knitting nearly impossible. As soon as I start to knit Kennedy decides she wants to get on my lap, at times nearly impaling herself on the needles!!!! So it is often safer to knit when she is asleep. Of course that is the time I need to check email, grade papers for the online class I teach, cook and clean the house. Oh and play with Katie! However, I did make time to knit a hat, I am working on number 2 for the July Itty Bitty Charity knits. This is my month to host and I am sending the hats to the NICU where Kate spent almost 6 weeks when she was born at 2lbs 3oz. The Hat in the picture is made for a preemie 1-3lbs and would have fit Katie at birth. To give perspective, I have taken a picture with a newborn itty bitty bunny ears hat.

I can not believe Katie was once a 13" and 2 lbs....she actually got down under 2 lbs! Truly frightening but makes you glad for healthy kids and great nurses and doctors. I could not thank Drs. MacArtor and Wright enough! Truely heros and they are also nice people! Rare in the Dr. Speciality world!
Anyway for anyone who would like to knit a hat for the NHRMC NICU, please contact me by leaving a comment or on ravelry:twoaugustgirls.

The link for this great preemie hat and even more fun patterns is:http://woolwindings.blogspot.com/
Make sure you tell her twoaugustgirls sent ya!

The patterns are quick, fun and easy to follow. Thanks!!!!

So this is what I have been up to!

So, you think, did she fall off the earth? What in the world have I been doing all this time? Well, let me tell you all two is much harder than 1! In terms of kids, we have been so busy, Katie went from soccer to swimming lessons to Basketball and now she is playing lacrosse! I am glad she likes to be so busy and active! Her father is her lacrosse coach, so hopefully she will still like lacrosse after this season. (HAHAHA)
So here are a few pics of what has been going on in my life.

Kennedy was not so sure about the snow....This is just prior to the tears!
Katie loves basketball and is a very aggressive player. (in a good way)

Here is the snow princess and Katie:)

The two of them LOVE the piano!

Yes she gets up there by herself!

Pianist in the making or just a lot of "sound and fury signifying nothing...."

Leave me alone people....

I have been so busy I have not had the time to do anything related to my blog! My oldest has been involved in rec sports since September and it never seems to stop and my youngest, 19 months does not allow me anytime to myself!

I Am hoping to take some finished objects pictures this weekend and post them! I made a cute jumping girl hat for my Katie! It is from Susan Andersons Itty Bitty hats book. I am in the proccess of finishing a sweater for myself made of the most gorgeous feeling and looking wool. It is sort of a flame red/orange and is hand dyed! MMMM yummy yummy.

I would also encourage you to check out my friend from elementary school's blog:http://heathers-hope.blogspot.com/ She has stage 4 cervical cancer and I know she would appreciate your support and prayers! Happy Friday!
